Julien’s is a garden gourmet-style farm store + bakery producing artisanal, handmade breads, sandwiches, cakes, pastries, and other provisions, using traditional baking techniques. Everything is made from scratch on-site.
Julien’s Story
Julien was born and raised in the picturesque province of Poitou in southwestern France. His journey into the culinary world was deeply influenced by his family’s rich cooking legacy—his mother and grandmother were exceptional cooks.
After studying French and Spanish literature, his passion for food drove him to pursue a professional cooking career, enrolling at the prestigious Lycée Hôtelier in La Rochelle, where he honed his skills in fresh, simple cooking, while developing a special love for patisserie.
He began his career as a chef de partie alongside a traditional French pastry chef in Hythe, England, before working for six years as a senior chef de partie at Nahm in London, the first Thai restaurant outside of Thailand to receive a Michelin star.
After a long career as a private chef, Julien moved to Granby, CT in 2020 with his husband, Christopher, and their dog, Winston.
Our Philosophy
Through our food, our garden, and our offering, we honor tradition while embracing innovation. Our love of cooking is a celebration and an honor, reminding us that there is absolute beauty in simplest acts of care.
